When we heard last week that Charlize Theron was going to be in SA for the peace conference, we couldn’t contain our excitement! But then the conference got postponed and we tried to find out where the blonde bombshell would be – if she was even still coming!

After loads of dead ends, and a few misses, we finally spotted Charlize in Sandton. Yes, just walking around as if she wasn’t this big A-list celebrity! Of course, our well-trained eyes picked up that it was our very own local girl from Benoni! After asking for a picture (for our Facebook profiles, you know) we followed her around the centre for a good 20 minutes! And she couldn’t have been nicer! After a little persuasion Charlize gave us the picture and said she was very upset about the peace conference. “I really really am disappointed,” she said, shaking her head.

A little while later, Charlize headed for Baglios. “Is that ice-cream? I’d love some ice-cream,” she told the muscle surrounding her. But alas, there was no-one to help her and when she went around the corner to ask, a waiter said, “No. Just wait.” Clearly they haven’t watched Monster!

Just after she gave up on the ice-cream, Charlize got a phone call, and walked across Nelson Mandela Square where she was whisked away in a big car! The weird thing about this experience is that nobody actually noticed it was her! She didn’t even need bodyguards, because she was walking around without a care in the world… And she was NICE. So NICE…
