ModNation Racers (PS3)

In a nutshell: It’s a cutesy racer game that pushes customisation through the roof with online access to other tracks, cars, characters, and just about everything else!

What’s it like? Very arcadey. There’s still some demanding skills to get the hang of, such as drifting around corners to score points and putting your car exactly on the boost arrows on the track to earn boost points. But for the most part, it’s just fun!

What’s hot? The fact that you pretty much only need to know how to steer, brake and accelerate to have fun. And being able to race other ModNation fans online. And being able to create your own race characters, cars and tracks! Hello, modifying gamer heaven!

What’s cold? No network connection? Sorry for you! You’ll just have to make do with the standard racers, tracks and vehicles. Not that they’re bad or anything, but the more, the merrier, right?

Verdict: Not the most difficult of racing games, but definitely one of the most enjoyable because of its cute factor and the online capabilities!
