Front Row Report: Audi Joburg Fashion Week 2010 - BY JEN SU

2010 got off to a stunning start with Audi Joburg Fashion Week 2010 at the Sandton Convention Centre. Four days of fun and fashion -- and front-row sights brought a lot of eye candy 'n love to Joziwood.

The best of Autumn/Winter 2010?

1) Karen Millen.  A gorgeous collection, and it was great to see Millen back in Joburg for a bit after she's been taking New York's fashion world by storm.  Front row was mainly beauty editors and industry types for the opening show.

2) Dax Martin.  The Southern Sun Dax Martin Lingerie Show was sexy, naughty and even a little bit nice (wink!)  Front row was mainly hot guys squirming in their seats...  Celebrity models included Tanya van Graan, Christina Storm, Shashi Naidoo, and Cindy Nell.  Christina and Cindy were both happy to be back from Survivor!

3) Fundudzi by Craig Jacobs (another Survivor guy!), presented by Plascon.  The colourful, sophisticated backdrop and earthy, funky clothes were a refreshing sight and great to photograph.

4) Thula Sindi.  Thula again dazzled and his celeb following did the "oohs and aahs" with some of the gowns, including a purple scalloped tiered ruffle dress that was exquisite.

5) David Tlale.  Last year's Arise Africa Fashion Week winner, David held an exclusive invite-only event with vitaminwater at Circa in Rosebank.  Definitely a great element of surprise -- with models frozen on ladders, on chairs, and rotating in circles in elaborate gowns, sequins, mile-long lashes, and it was an absolute spectacle.  How on earth did they stand so long and not move! (Though Tatum 'n I got in a quick chat when no one was looking!)

6) Suzaan Heyns.  Her collection was avante-garde, latex, and rock glam.  She dressed Idols Graeme Watkins and Cameron Bruce in latex and suits (which must not be easy to take off quickly!)  Lady Gaga would've loved it... Spotted in front row: Bailey Schneider and her guy, Richard J looking very cuute!

7) Stefania Morland.  Stefania was the overall winner of Audi Joburg Fashion Week and the winner of an Audi A5 for a year.  Her collection pieces were stunning, detailed -- and the final gown was an absolute showstopper in gold and taffeta.

8) Spero Villioti.  Simply breathtaking.

9) Fabiani.  Enjoyed Stevel Marc's spontaneous gyration "performance" on the runway, though he definitely raised quite a few eyebrows from fashion editors with that one!  Front row: hooting ladies ready to grab!

10) Carducci for Women.  Lots of matching colour gloves and stockings.

11) Heni.  Always fun and daring.

12) Audi Finale featuring Errol Arendz and Craig Port.  The front row was abuzz with fabulous looking couples in luurve! And V-day isn't even here yet!  Everyone from Patrice Motsepe and Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, to Lady Kitty Spencer and Larry Cohen, and Lee-Ann Liebenberg and Nicky van der Walt, were there in style.  And if you're wondering, Miss SA Nicole Flint was there with ... her brother!

And there were plenty of other personalities such as Edith Venter, Carolyn Steyn, Michael de Pinna, Alan Ford, Henri Slier, Jill Grogor, Kerry and Gerri Rantseli-Elsdon, Uyanda Mbuli, Zuraida Jardine, who were there -- and Gareth Cliff fed me way too many shots at the afterparty.  Everything from the laser light dance show, to the designer collections, to the afterparty at FTV Sandton -- was great fun!

Looking forward to the next one!
