Okay, hands up those of you who were utterly blown away by the start of the sixth season of Idols. Yeah, that’s what we thought. As much as it shocks us to admit this, it was pretty darn awesome. We laughed. We cried. Sometimes we did both at the same time… there really should be a word for that emotion…

And we beamed with pride when twenty-one year old FHM beauty, Adeline Mocke, strutted in to audition – looking hot in skinny jeans and a sparkly tank top – only to get the immediate thumbs up from Mr. Cliff before even opening her mouth. Luckily, it turns out the girl can sing. Heck, she even made Randall smile.

The salt water flowed from Mama Mara’s (and our) eyes when thirty-year-old cutie, Elvis Blue (Real name: Jan Hoogendyk. Occupation: real-life saint), did Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love justice. All in honour of his dear friend/namesake, who passed away from HIV/Aids complications last year.

And Idols auditions just wouldn’t be the same without the crazies, who, despite cries of protest from everyone they’ve ever met, continue to believe they have what it takes to become this country’s next big pop star. We’re looking at you, Jethro Champion… FreshlyGround’s Zolani provided a much-needed ray of sunshine on the judges’ table. But we really can’t wait to see what pearls of wisdom treffer king, Steve Hofmeyr, will have to offer this Sunday. For real.
