Actors strike looms
Officials representing the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) have concluded talks over a looming actors strike, but have yet to set a date for a vote on the possible walkout.
The SAG was due to ballot its 120 000 members this month to gain approval for strike action in an ongoing row with leading Hollywood studios and TV networks over royalty payments.
The SAG has already rejected a three-year deal that was offered last year but, with mounting worries over the global economic crisis, the delay in voting gives both sides extra time to come to an agreement.
As the credit crunch bites, more and more prominent SAG members such as George Clooney, Cameron Diaz and Charlize Theron have been speaking out against strike action, insisting walkouts would be disastrous for the industry at a time when people are already suffering from the global economic downturn.
The heat Towers crew is still getting over the impact of the writers strike and are hoping and praying the situation is resolved without awards shows, movies and TV series all coming to a grinding halt!
