Charlize Theron in court
So you may be gorgeous and you may be rich, but that isn’t going to help you when it comes to matters of the law.
South Africa’s favourite export, Charlize Theron, has been ordered back to court, where a jury will decide if she has to pay a luxury watchmaker $20 million for breaking a contract with them.
Bosses at Swiss company Raymond Weil claim they paid Theron the sum to wear its watches exclusively between October 2005 and December 2006.
According to court papers, Theron was also the face of a Dior perfume, and "was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line" at a press event in Austin, Texas on 14 March 2006.
The Oscar winner's legal team's attempts to have the case dismissed have failed, and a hearing for the trial will now take place at Federal Court for the Southern District of New York in late October.
It's a hard life - being paid that much money just to wear some watches - we almost feel sorry for Charlize... actually no, not really.
