A reporter quizzing Charlize Theron about her new movie at the Venice Film Festival made the South African actress blush when he asked her to marry him.

The Oscar winner was promoting new film The Burning Plan at a press conference when the unnamed reporter popped the question.

He asked, "I really like you so much and have a lot of respect for you but I would like to marry you - and I have a question: which side (of the bed) do you prefer to sleep on?"

The actress blushed and quickly replied, "The side that you are not on," before joking, "Security! Security! Security!"

She then added, "You are very cute, but you know my boyfriend will kill you."

Charlize then told the press that she was “married” to her long term boyfriend, Irish actor Stuart Townsend, even though the couple have never officially wed.

Most of the boys at heat Towers have applauded the reporter's cheek, saying they'd also pop the question if they got the chance with Charlize!
