Oscar’s assault charges dropped!

Finally! Star athlete Oscar Pistorius has been cleared of the assault charges laid against him on 12 September 2009. This after the state decided not to prosecute the case, as the evidence against Oz was severely lacking. “I’m so relieved it’s over. Not that I didn’t think it would amount to anything anyway,” Oscar told heat exclusively.

He spent the night behind bars, after Cassidy Taylor Memmory accused him of assault. From the start, Oz has denied the allegations. “She changed her statement three times. The whole thing was a joke. But I’ll never forget that night,” he adds.

Even though the state won’t prosecute, Cassidy can still pursue the case in nolle prosecui, meaning she would have to follow up the charges in her private capacity, at her own cost. But she’s not the only one weighing up her options: Oscar might just take legal action of his own. “I should never have been arrested,” he says, and Police agree! Officials have apologised to Oscar for the wrongful arrest and admitted he should not have spent the night behind bars.

Oscar has released the following statement about the incident:

Media Statement : Oscar Leonard Pistorius

I have been advised by the offices of the State Prosecutor that after a thorough and detailed investigation of all the facts and circumstances surrounding the events that transpired at my residence on 12 September 2009, the State has declined to prosecute the criminal complaint preferred against me by Ms. Cassidy Taylor Memmory.

2. I am advised further that the office of the State Prosecutor has issued  a nolle prosecui in respect of the said criminal complaint.

3. My legal representatives and I are currently evaluating the scope,  nature and extent of such damages actions that may be instituted  against various parties in the near future.

4. As a proud ambassador of South Africa I reiterate my complete faith in the South African legal system and thank the relevant authorities  for the manner in which they conducted their detailed and thorough investigation into the events that transpired on 12 September 2009.
