The perfect pair of sunnies
There are loads of perks to working in the fashion team at heat Towers – one being getting invited to see the latest designer sunglasses collections for 2010 at Sunglass Hut. And we’re not talking any old designers here… we’re talking Chanel, Tom Ford, Prada, Ray-Ban, Roberto Cavalli, Tiffany & Co… Okay, okay… I’ll stop name dropping now!
Fellow fashion team member Chantelle and I set off on Tuesday evening to drool over 2010’s hottest shades and report back on exactly which shapes you need to be wearing right now!
The first thing you need to know is that vintage shapes are back. And they’re hot! Think Dita von Teese in the ’50s for Chanel’s new range (oversized and round)… Take yourself back to the ’80s with Ray-Ban’s Wayfarers, which are still looking hot, especially now that they’re available in loads of fresh colours! And if you fancy being a hot lady cop for the day, Aviator shapes are key!
But the most important thing to remember when buying a new pair of sunnies is protection, protection, protection! Keep your peepers safe by making sure your sunglasses fit properly and suit your face. Check these three things before splashing your cash:
1. When you smile with them on, do your cheeks touch the bottom of the frames and move the glasses? If yes, they’re sitting too low and you need to try a smaller pair.
2. Do the arms fit comfortably against your temples? If not, try a slightly bigger pair.
3. If you’re very pale, black frames can be too harsh on your skin tone – rather opt for a brown-framed pair. Vice versa if you’re dark
